Worthy Busyness

December 20, 2022

Recently I read a testimony from a young mother about a product she is using. She related the stressful events of her morning, waking a little late, kids to dress, snacks, and lunches, you get the picture. Looking back at the morning she said:

“Before I was using these products, I would have been so stressed…But not anymore! Before I would have snapped at my kids…But not anymore! Before I would have said I don’t have time to get a snack or make a lunch…But not anymore!”

While reading, I thought about my life journey.

Before I knew that I could tell God what I need, I stressed over my money, my time, and my decisions.

Before I knew to thank God for all that he has done, I let situations overwhelm me, I raised my voice to my children, and I thought more would be the solution to my desires.

Before I knew that God’s peace would guard my heart, I filled my days with busy tasks and didn’t have time to spend with the One who provides this peace.

This is the last week of the advent season. Maybe life has gotten out of hand for you. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the worthy busyness this time of year. If we aren’t careful, our rushing, doing, and stressing become our main focus. As my granddaughter often tells her highly sensitive daughter, we need to stop and breathe. Take a moment to remember the promise God gives you.

Philippians 4:6-7 gives us the prescription and the dosage of the product available to all of us. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
