I married Amy 48 days shy of my 21st birthday. She was my legal guardian for a brief period of time. Twenty-five years later, and she’s still my legal guardian! Though that is still the same, we have seen a lot of change in our relationship over those 25 years – 7 different houses, college diplomas, two kids, career changes, a whirlwind of kids’ activities, friends that have come and gone, and a roller coaster full of ups and downs.
In all of that, across all the good days and the bad days, I can unequivocally say that Amy and I have grown closer together. And that has happened primarily as we have grown closer to God. We were taught something in our pre-marital counseling all of those years ago that I will never forget. As a husband and wife each grow closer to God they can’t help but grow closer to one another.
