Saved People Serve People

February 12, 2020

Are you a giver or a taker? Think about how you have spent your day. Have you done more giving or more taking? In your marriage and/or your relationships, do you pocket more or contribute more? In your church, are you there to receive more or serve more? Are you a giver or a taker?

Jesus is a giver. He is our greatest example of selflessness. Scripture is full of examples of Jesus serving others - from going out of His way to talk to the woman at the well, to healing lepers, to washing His disciples' feet, to the ultimate sacrifice of giving His life. In fact, Jesus said about Himself that He “did not come to be served but to serve” (Matthew 20:28).

Being made in His image, you were created to give. God made you with unique talents, personalities, and skills. And when you asked Jesus into your life, you were given at least one spiritual gift. You get the most joy and make the biggest difference when you use your God-given talents, gifts, and abilities to build the church (Ephesians 4:14-16).

That’s why one of our core values at Aldersgate is “Saved People Serve People.” Each week, dozens of people just like you give their time to serve. Whether it’s helping kids learn about Jesus on their level in Aldersgate Kids, greeting first-time guests, or pitching in behind the scenes with production, every volunteer is making a difference at Aldersgate! We know you’re busy, and a million things are competing for your time. But we also know you’ll meet new friends and grow in your relationship with Jesus when you start serving. There’s a serving opportunity that suits your personality and availability. Take a look at a few of our ministries, and sign up to get more information!
