Raise Your Bible IQ

January 8, 2020

How often do you engage with the Bible? The State of the Bible 2019 surveyed people on how consistently they interacted with the Bible and found that people fell into one of five different categories: disengaged, neutral, friendly, engaged, and centered. Which category are you in?

Fifty-six percent of all adults “wish that they used the Bible more.” And that rose to 80% among Bible-friendly adults, 89% for Bible-engaged, and 94% for Bible-centered. So the research tells us the more we read the Bible, the more likely we are to wish we read more of it. Reading the Bible develops our taste buds to read it more.

Bible engagement is the single greatest predictor of spiritual success. It doesn’t matter whether you are a novice or if you are more adept at searching the Scriptures. The deeper we go, the deeper it gets. Charles Spurgeon said, “Nobody ever outgrows Scripture; the book widens and deepens with our years.”

I hope that you are in the Core52 challenge with us. Increase your Bible IQ in 15 minutes/day, 5 days/week in 52 weeks. The Core52 book (which you can pick up a free copy of at Aldersgate this Sunday) identifies fifty-two of the most influential verses in the Bible. Each week there are five activities to complete:

  • Day 1: Read the 3-4 page essay.
  • Day 2: Memorize the core verse.
  • Day 3: Read the core Bible story.
  • Day 4: Meditate on three verses with the same core.
  • Day 5: Accomplish the core verse action step.

Don’t wait until Sunday. Get started this week by following us on social media and be here this Sunday to get your copy of the Core52 book!
